What is the Greater Sydney Services and Infrastructure Plan?
The Greater Sydney Services and Infrastructure Plan (2018) defines how Transport for NSW will develop its public transport, roads and freight networks to create vibrant, liveable places and communities. It’s based on Transport for NSW’s Future Transport Strategy.
The Greater Sydney Services and Infrastructure Plan details how we will assist people and goods to move efficiently and safely in Greater Sydney.
We’ll do this by:
- investing in new transport links
- making the most of our existing transport capacity
- prioritising road space for more efficient vehicles, such as buses and freight
- building infrastructure to encourage people to walk and cycle
- harnessing emerging technology to make journeys more efficient, reliable and to make trip planning easy
- creating liveable, sustainable 30-minute cities connected with public transport
- reducing emissions from the transport sector, transitioning toward net zero by 2050.
Updating the Plans
The NSW Government is delivering around 40 initiatives from the Greater Sydney Services and Infrastructure Plan and some have been completed. We’re now reviewing this plan to align with our updated Future Transport Strategy.
Transport for NSW is working closely with the Greater Cities Commission and Infrastructure NSW to ensure our transport vision aligns with land-use plans.
